MTS On Air
MTS has completed its pilot project of launching mobile TV in 3G test zone in St. Petersburg. The operator is satisfied with the project's results and is planning to launch mobile TV in DVB-H, as well as in 3G networks. According to MTS forecast, the number of 3G TV subscribers will exceed 1 million people. Analysts evaluate the company's plans positively but note the shortage of DVB-H terminals.

Russian Mobile Operators: ARPU Slows Down
The rapid growth of ARPU of Russian mobile operators that has been seen for the last two years is slowing down, reports MForum Analytics. The growth rate of the Big Trio's ARPU may not even get ahead of inflation in 2008. The operators themselves disagree with such evaluation and hope for growth of consumption of non-voice services.

3G in Ukraine
Kievstar introduced a new service of high-speed data transmission called "Internet 3G". The new service is deployed in the 3G network of Ukrtelekom. For Kievstar subscribers Internet connection speeds can be as high as 3.6 Mbps.

Trading Places
In 2005 MTS had an image of the most expensive mobile operator while MegaFon – the most inexpensive. In the 1st quarter of 2007, MegaFon's average rate per minute remained the lowest in the Russian market – 5.55 cents, but MTS, charging 6.12 cents per minute, traded place with Beeline which charges 6.77 cents.

Russians Appear in Top 100 Global Brands
Experts from Millward Brown Optimor (MBO) evaluated the most expensive global brands of 2007. Not surprisingly, Google took the first place. In a year the Internet giant went up 30% and its valuation reached $86,057 billion. MTS, a leading Russian mobile operator, took 89th place in the overall rating and 9th place among the most expensive global mobile brands. Two more Russian companies made it to the rating – Baltika, 15th place in Beer nomination, and LUKOIL – 8th place in Motor Oil category.

According to experts Russian mobile advertisement market will comprise at most 2% of the total world volume in 2008. Market analysts expect that advertisement from “big” Internet will become mobile although mobile Internet still lacks user-friendliness.

Skylink and RuTube Mobile Video Network
Skylink and RuTube developed mobile video network by providing direct access to mobile portal RuTube.ru from Skylink mobile phones. For the first time video clips stored on the web can be viewed on mobile phones utilizing high-speed mobile internet technology EV-DO.

Trafficland Launches Mobile Media Broadcasting
Trafficland and MIKS, first Russian Center for Mobile Media Broadcasting, have launched a mobile broadcasting service in Skylink’s CDMA-450 network.
